MONTCLAIR, NJ -  A group of teens and young adults were arrested outside of Montclair High School on weapons and trespassing charges on Monday.

Dozens of officers responded to a report of persons trespassing on school property on Monday shortly after dismissal, witnesses say.

According to Montclair Police officials, the trespassers were observed entering two vehicles in the area. Upon approaching that vehicle, Officers observed what was later determined to be a fake firearm in one of the vehicles. The occupants were also found to be in possession of a large knife.

A 16-year-old Newark female and a 17-year-old Newark male were both arrested and charged with Defiant Trespass. Dovon Williams, a 21-year-old from Orange, was also arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a Weapon.

In the same incident, Almajid Johnson, a 22-year-old from Newark, was arrested on open warrants out of Newark,
Plainfield, and Burlington and Joshua Alcantara, a 25-year-old from Belleville, was arrested and charged with
Defiant Trespass.

Interim Superintendent Barbara Pinsack issued at statement saying, "The high school and district have everything under control."

She added, We always err on the side of caution. As always, we appreciate the wisdom and care of the Montclair Police Department.
