BLOOMFIELD, NJ - Bloomfield Fire Department, Department of Public Works, and PSE&G responded to a Sampson Street home after large branches fell on the dwelling bringing live wires with them.
Early morning powerful wind gusts swept across northern New Jersey on Monday. Trash cans, recycling, even discarded Christmas trees were seen in streets across the region. In Bloomfield a large limb fell on the Sampson Street home causing some damage.
PSE&G responded to turn off power on the downed wires. PSE&G reminds its customers to avoid downed wires. Should wires fall onto a parked car, as they did in this case, contact PSE&G immediately to have the power turned off. Metal on the car can conduct electricity and result in electrocution.
The Bloomfield Fire Department responded because large branches were on the home. The department also responds to downed wire situations because of the chance of fire.
The Department of Public Works removed the large limbs from the property.
