We know this is early, but since our lives are busy and we wanted you to know what we will be offering.
Lent this is not a season of doom and gloom; it is a season to reflect on how we are not fully living into God’s vision for who we can be. Lent is a time to look inward-to discover our true intentions and to find the places in our own hearts and lives that may be resisting God’s healing and love.
Lent is a time of repentance in order to know a greater joy of healing in the truth of the Gospel. Lent is a time to ask for reconciliation, a time to seek a deeper relationship with God. Lent is a season of 40 days in which we strive for spiritual renewal and transformation by getting serious about sin and equally serious about the glorious truth of grace in the cross of Christ.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
So that we can begin this time or season with the right heart, spirit and mind, Brookdale Reformed Church will be offering an Ash Wednesday Service on March 1 at 7:30 p.m. In this service, we are invited to receive God’s reconciliation and love in the sign of the cross –We receive this sign in ashes-for our cleansing and renewal and in oil-for our healing of body, mind and spirit and in doing so, we open ourselves up to God’s transforming power.
