BLOOMFIELD, NJ-- Vincent and Julie Priore started Milestones Academy in 2009 in North Haledon, and now their company is branching off into Bloomfield. After celebrating a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday at 5 PM with Mayor Michael Venezia, they will be officially opening on September 4.
“We have been preparing for this for about 18 months,” explains Julie Priore, “We spent considerable time designing our classrooms with our equipment manufacturer, Community Playthings. We toured their facility in the Hudson Valley and are so happy to be working with them. They make the highest quality equipment and everything they produce is LEED Certified, all natural wood and the safest for our kids. The entire space has been renovated and outfitted with the latest technology for convenience and safety. Our families will enjoy seamless check in and payment, digital communication daily along with progress reports for their children. Our classrooms all have computers and iPads and there is a Smart Board on the way!”
Running Milestones Academy in North Haledon and starting their own family inspired this expansion. Both Vincent and Julie are Bloomfield natives, and since Vincent’s mother Donna opened Executive Baby on 102 Broad Street in 1989 and sold it in 2008, this significant location in Bloomfield was an apropos choice for them.
“The property has remained in our family and re-opening a child care facility in this space brings things full circle for us and our family,” says Priore.
Milestones Academy accepts children ages six weeks through preschool and incorporates a “Whole Child Assessment” to track developmental milestones during this time frame. Their teachers utilize this information to plan playing and learning accordingly for each child.
“Our customized curriculum utilizes concepts from a variety of philosophies to offer, what we believe, is an incredibly well-rounded program. And on top of that, its truly a passion for us and we believe that shines through in everything we do,” explains Priore.
Milestones Academy has a list of upcoming events and activities planned. These include open houses and the annual Trike-A-Thon to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. They also offer enrichment programs such as music, dance, gymnastics, Taekwondo, cooking, and STEAM, and even host a Holiday Show, prom, and a graduation ceremony.
“Starting any new business is a huge challenge and a tremendous effort. But we are so excited to bring our concept to our hometown and into the space where our family began in this business, and so it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience for us.”
The Priores are very community oriented and aim to influence families of all ages to help others and plan to work with the local government to help Bloomfield’s causes.
