MONTCLAIR, NJ - The Montclair Rotary Club will host Taste of Montclair March 13, 2017 at the Manor in West Orange. This year CSBK is the presenting sponsor of the event.

In the last five years, the Montclair Rotary Club raised over $100,000 for charity in a single evening food, fun, and camaraderie. Hundreds of people sampled the creations of the community's favorite restaurants and food crafters who all came together in the Rotary spirit of “service above self.” The sixth annual event on Monday is going to continue that tradition.

This year Taste of Montclair is at the Manor in West Orange. “The Knowles Restaurants are the Garden State’s premier venues for dining and events” said Rotary President Alicia Robinson. “After reaching guest capacity at other venues, and limiting the number of participating restaurants because of space issues, the move was logical step for Montclair’s premier food charity event.” The Manor will not only allow for greater participation, but give the Montclair Rotary Club the opportunity to host a special VIP reception. Parking is also a breeze.

In keeping with a tradition that started accidently three years ago, Taste of Montclair is scheduled for the first Monday of Daylight Savings Time.  “The days are longer and everyone will want to get out of the house.” said Montclair Rotary Membership Director Dalton Chandler. “Taste of Montclair is the ideal time for everyone to sample their favorite restaurants again or make a new dining discovery. In the weeks after the event we encourage our guests to patronize the restaurants that supported our event.”

100% of ticket sales from Taste of Montclair go to the charities supported by the Montclair Rotary Club Foundation. "The generous support of our sponsors, especially our presenting sponsor CSBK - Your Forever Bank, make this possible" said Rotary President Kevin Stoops. Robinson added "with support from BMW of Bloomfield, Montclair Acura, and others, we'll be able to make additional grants this year - so buy your tickets today!"

Six things you may not have known about Taste of Montclair:

1. The event has never been held in Montclair (there just isn't the space for it)

2. The event is run with an all-volunteer team.

3. 100% of the food and beverages are donated by the restaurateurs and food crafters.

4. 100% of ticket sales go to the charities supported by the Montclair Rotary Club.

5. We ditched paper tickets after 2015 after having only sold 39 that year, the money saved by moving to electronic tickets means there is that much more money to donate to charity.

6. Our goal is to raise funds to help people, restaurants and food crafters outside of Montclair are welcome to help us reach that goal.

Tickets for Taste of Montclair are available on eventbrite: CSBK - Your Forever Bank - Presents Taste of Montclair 2017.

The Taste of Montclair team told TAPinto Montclair "There are always a few restaurants who advise us in the week before the event that they cannot attend, a staff member falls ill, someone books a private party, it happens. This year we have a wait list of restaurants that would like to participate so we can reach out when we learn of a cancellation. Email the Montclair Rotary Club to be added to that list." The email is montclairrotaryclub@gmail.com

Details about Taste of Montclair will be found on the Montclair Rotary Club website www.montclairrotaryclub.com

Victoria Kelly's first published volume of poetry, When the Men Go Off to War, is a wonder in that poems can be written so beautifully about the subject of war. Each poem is a jewel, polished and colorful, glittering with elegant imagery, and rich in emotional wallop. The book, divided into three sections, ...
