BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The Bloomfield fire Department were kept busy responding to two fires within hours of each other: one in a private home, the other at El Matador Mexican Restaurant.
The residential fire started in the second floor bathroom of a 2 story frame home on Bessida Street. The exact cause of the fire is not known at this time.
The fire at El Matador took place earlier in the morning in one of the restaurant's stoves. That small fire was quickly extinguished.
The health department was called to the scene after fire crews completed their work.It is standard practice to call for a health inspection of a food establishment after a fire. The health department will inspect the facility to make sure none of the extinguishing agents contaminated food in storage or equipment that will come in contact with food later,
El Matador is located on Broad Street near McDonalds.
