BLOOMFIELD NJ - At approximately 9:50 a.m. Thursday, train No. 6227 on the Montclair Boonton Line, the 9:09 a.m. departure from New York Penn Station to Montclair State University, struck a male trespasser near Bloomfield Station according to the New Jersey Transit Public Information Office
The trespasser was estimated to be 18 years old. He sustained a head injury, but is conscious and was taken to UMDNJ. No injuries were reported to the approximately 50 customers and crew on board the train. A rescue train accommodated the customers.
Service on the Montclair Boonton Line was temporarily suspended and has resumed. NJ TRANSIT buses and private carriers will continue honoring rail tickets and passes for the time being.
The New Jersey Transit Police Department remains at the scene leading the investigation.
