NUTLEY, NJ - Nutley American toppled Bloomfield 13-8 to remain undefeated in their last pool-play game of the 12-year-old District 8 Little League Tournament tonight at Nutley American Field.

Both teams were 3-0 heading into tonight, as Bloomfield lead Pool A, while Nutley American was atop Pool B.  Neither team had even surrendered a run this postseason.  Something had to give in this heavyweight contest.
Nutley American maintained a 5-3 lead going into the bottom of the 3rd inning when first-baseman Kevin Jiratatprasot ripped a line-drive up the middle to increase the lead to 7-3.
Bloomfield answered back with a run in the top of the 4th to close the gap to 7-4, but Nutley American went on a rampage in the bottom of the frame scoring 5 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks and 2 errors to lead 12-4.
Nutley American notched another run in the bottom of the 5th to extend the lead to 13-4, but the high-powered Bloomfield offense would not go down without a fight.  They scored 4 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks, until Jiratatprasot came in to close the door and notch the final two outs, ending the game at 13-8.
Nutley American is undefeated at 4-0 in the tournament.  American previously defeated Livingston 6-0 on Saturday, June 23; Belleville 10-0 on Thursday, June 28; and Nutley East 2-0 on Saturday, June 30.
With the loss, Bloomfield falls to 3-1, but are the top seed in Pool A.  They previously defeated Caldwell 24-0 on Saturday, June 23; Ironbound 23-0 on Thursday, June 28; and North Ward 6-0 on Sunday, July 1.
Nutley American and Bloomfield meet again in the District 8 Championship this Monday, July 9, 6 pm at Nutley American Field.
