NUTLEY, NJ - Nutley Police arrested Michaelangelo Costello of Jersey City on March 7 in connection with a diversion burglary in February. Costello was charged by Bloomfield Police in mid-February after officers from that department arrested him for "water department burglaries" in that community.
Nutley and Bloomfield homes were the target of 'water department burglaries' earlier this year. In each case the suspects would state that they needed to check the water. As the homeowner led one person to the water shut off, the other would burglarize the home.
The Bloomfield police made the initial arrest of Costello and his father Wando Delmaro after obtaining video evident that led to the identification of their vehicle. At the time of that arrest, Nutley police charged the pair in connection to an incident on Mountainview Avenue. The current charges stem from a burglary on Bloomfield Avenue on February 2.
New York detectives are currently in the process of extraditing Costello for a similar burlary in their jurisdiction.
