PATERSON, NJ- The Passaic County Fair is coming back to Garret Mountain Reservation on Thursday, August 16, and will run until Sunday, August 19. Hosted by the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders in partnership with Friends of Passaic County Parks, Inc., the four day event will feature carnival rides, food vendors, the 4-H tent, a beer garden, pony rides and a petting zoo, and many other activities for families and children.
There will be a fireworks display on both Friday and Saturday and a chess tournament beginning on Friday with the championship round slated for Saturday.
“We are planning our biggest county fair to date, with a mix of favorites from previous years and new attractions that we continue to draw annually,” said Freeholder Director Sandi Lazzara. “Between the amusement rides, carnival games, beer garden, fireworks, and everything else at our county fair, we have something to offer every individual.”
Garret Mountain is closed to thru traffic during the fair and there will be a $5 per car entrance fee. On Thursday, guests can purchase a wrist band for $20 which allows for unlimited access to the rides. On that same evening The Harlem Wizards basketball team will compete in an exhibition game against Passaic County police officers, firefighters, and PCTI athletes.
“I am looking forward to this year’s annual county fair, which is gearing up to be our biggest fair yet,”said Freeholder TJ Best. “I am very thankful for all of this year’s fair sponsors, both new and returning, who are giving back to the community and providing this annual tradition.”
The County Fair is being sponsored by an array of private businesses in Passaic County, including Fair Sponsors Schumacher Chevrolet, Lakeland Bank, and Braen Stone.
“I am proud to support the long-standing tradition in Passaic County, and our partnership with the Board of Chosen Freeholders and Friends of Passaic County Parks, together we put on a spectacular event.” stated Steven Tilton who owns Schumacher Chevrolet along with his wife, Judith Schumacher-Tilton. “As a longtime business owner in Passaic County, we know the Freeholders are always great partners and always dedicated to improving the Passaic County Community.
