MONTCLAIR, NJ - Montclair Police have located a suspect accused of attempting to give an 11-year-old girl a ride, officials say. The investigation concluded with police determining that it was a misunderstanding after an Uber driver began circling the area looking for a scheduled pickup and inquired if the juvenile was his assigned ride.
On January 2 around 7am, an 11-year-old reported to police that she was approached by an unidentified male in a vehicle, at the corner of Alexander Avenue and Squire Hill Road. She told police that he offered her a ride due to it being cold outside. When she refused, it was reported that the driver sped off towards Grove Street.
Lt. David O'Dowd of the Montclair Police Department stated, "Through investigation it was determined that this incident was a misunderstanding."
