"Hot Hot Hot" - Buster Poindexter

SUMMIT, NJ - Arguably America's most popular condiment will take center stage at the Summit Farmers Market when the Annual Salsa Contest is held September 10. Amateur chefs are invited to bring their best salsa to the Summit Farmers Market by 10:45 a.m.

Judging begins at 11 a.m., with duties performed by a esteemed panel including Allan Luftig, owner of Rosalita Mexican; Jess Niederer, head farmer of Chickadee Creek Farm -- the Market’s newest organic farm; Dylan Baker co-owner of Summit House; and Martin Kester, Executive Chef of Summit House.

After the salsa are judged, the public will be able to sample them, aided by fresh corn chips supplied by Rosalita Mexican. All types of salsa -- not just tomato -- are eligible to be entered.  For more information or to register, visit summitfarmersmarket.com.

The Summit Summer Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday through November 19, and is located in the Park & Shop Lot No. 2, at the corner of DeForest Avenue and Maple Street in Summit.
