TAPintoTravels - The powder may be nonexistent, but the weather has created some of the best snowtubing conditions we have ever seen in the Pennsylvania Poconos’ Camelback Resort in Tannersville.

Camelback features skiing, snowboarding, snowtubing, mountain adventures along with the wet and wonderful fun of its grand indoor waterpark, Aquatopia, and its thrilling outdoor summertime waterpark, Camelbeach.  Camelback gives you abundant reasons to visit all year round for a day trip or extended vacations.

The recently opened Camelback Lodge has suites that are spacious and comfortable with modern, attractive furnishings. There are 453 units with 16 individual layouts.  Many of the rooms feature fireplaces, balconies and kitchen areas so guests can completely relax after a busy day.

Overnight guests of the Lodge have unlimited access to Aquatopia, the 125,000 square foot multi-level waterpark that is meticulously maintained. It includes waterslides like the "Storm Chaser," children's play areas, the "Ka-na-gawa Wave Pool," the "Mystic SpringsSpa Lagoon," "The Lost River" and poolside amenities to enjoy like spacious lounge areas. You don't have to be a swimmer to have fun at Aquatopia. Just being in the surroundings is delightful.

We like that the Camelback Lodge experience works for all ages. Adults are pampered at "Serenity Spa" and children are indulged at the "Oasis Kid's Spa." Kids and kids-at-heart also will enjoy engaging in the vast variety of games at "Arcadia Mega Arcade," playing laser tag in "Lazer Runner" or doing a round of "Meh-Tah's" indoor mini-golf.

The Lodge has dining options that include a variety of restaurants and snack bars, with menus to suit all budgets, tastes and styles.

You can visit the restaurants even if you aren’t an overnight guest. The choices include Trails End, the rustic, casual bistro-style restaurant offering everything from burgers to complete entrees; Neptunes overlooks Aquatopia and serves salads, fresh sushi and small plates; Hemispheres presents tempting buffet breakfasts and dinners; the World Bazaar Coffee Shop has baked items, treats, healthy snacks and specially blended coffee drinks.

Camelback is renowned as a top ski resort in Pennsylvania with the biggest skiing and snowboarding terrain in the area. A great advantage is that it’s 100 percent lit for night skiing.

With lessons available, it's ideal for beginners. But there are slopes that are perfect for even the most accomplished winter athlete. And they have the biggest snowtubing park in the United States with up to 42 lanes and two surface lifts so there is no climbing and a lot more sliding.  Snowtubing is a great activity for families and groups.

Whether you are on a day-trip or a stay-trip, outdoor adventures abound with zip lining and the ever-popular "Mountain Coaster," which gives a thrilling ride down the slope for one or two riders.  Outdoor enthusiasts can also engage in the Treetops Adventure Course, Mountain Segway Tours and the Summit Bicycle tours.

Stay in touch with Camelback Resort to learn about their many exciting special events.

Camelback Resort and its amenities make it a gem of a getaway. Gather your group and plan a trip. It is an ideal location for corporate meetings and team building as well as events like family reunions and birthday celebrations.

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo (Citadel Press, 1970)

How does a reviewer do justice to a book called “the great American novel”? I first read Johnny Got His Gun during the Viet Nam war, when young people, nationwide, were protesting fighting in a war that was a senseless waste of life; a war in which the United States had no business participating.

The Truth About My Reading

The Truth About My Reading

I didn't get my Composition and Literature teacher at Montclair State College at all. A crusty old man with a dour disposition, Mr. Smith always seemed angry and rude. He appropriately intimidated freshmen, even me, an English major, who found this common core course beneath my dignity. Frankly, as a graduate of Highland Park High School, and a survivor of Mrs.
