To the Editor: Bloomfield, here is some food for thought. When we pass a municipal ordinance we have to advertise the ordinance, then have a seven day wait between first reading and second reading, which is final passage.

Last night, United States Senators were handed a 500-page bill that affects every aspect of our economy and our population at 7:00 pm and expected to vote on it, which they did after midnight.

Senators’ Menedez and Booker asked for the bill to be moved until Monday to properly vet, but were denied of a vote 52-48 along party lines.
