I am writing to you in response to Glen Rock's proposal to make Columbus Day a new day in Indigenous People's Day, and effectively white-washing history for a false narrative that destroys one of the biggest contributions an Italian has given the Western World.

Christopher Columbus, despite his faults, should be celebrated for his discovery of America over 500 years ago, not cast aside in disgrace for bringing a modern civilization across the Atlantic that evolved in creating the greatest country in the world in the United States!

We should be proud that in New Jersey and in Bergen County that it was Italian Catholic who made one of the most momentous discoveries of the last millennium. Instead, what I see is in an effort to appease a PC community changing history and ironically erasing the great achievements of a multi-cultural hero who is symbolic of the journey my ancestors made before me in coming to this state.

I ask you stop playing along with the PC police and stand-up for Italians across not only NJ, this country, and around the world by keeping Columbus Day the proud holiday it is!

Thank you,
