BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The following police blotter has been issued by Lt. Anthony Sisco of the Bloomfield Police Department.
4/2/18- William Hancock Age 29 of Bloomfield, NJ- Officers were dispatched to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on a report of a shoplifter in custody. Loss Prevention discovered that they were missing (2) Milwaukee Multi-Tools from their inventory and observed the suspect taking the tool from the shelf ($200.00 value). Suspect was arrested, transported to HQ charged with shoplifting, processed and released with a pending court date.
4/2/18- Officers dispatched to 45 Franklin Street (Core’s Tavern) on a report of a Theft. Complainant was outside of the bar smoking and when she returned, noticed that her Michael Kors purse was missing. The purse was brown in color ($300.00 value) with driver’s license, social security cards, and multiple cards inside of the purse. Incident is under investigation.
4/3/18- Officers dispatched to Sam’s Cleaners (127 Franklin Street) on a report of a Theft. Complainant allowed an unknown black male to use the rest room located in the back office of the establishment. Once he left, she discovered her Michael Kors purse missing. The purse contained $2,500 in cash. The suspect is described as an African American male approximately 5’11, medium build wearing a dark green jacket. Incident is under investigation.
4/5/18- Officers were dispatched to Franklin Street on a Package Theft Report. Complainant tracked his package of an IPhone 6, color space grey a $211.58 value, that was delivered but he never received it. The super was able to provide complainant with the surveillance footage of a black male taking the package. Incident is under investigation.
Motor Vehicle Theft:
4/7/18- An Officer on patrol at Chester Avenue was flagged down by a complainant who wanted to make a Motor Vehicle Theft Report. Complainant parked his vehicle across from his home on 4/6/18 at 5:00 P.M. When he returned at a later time, he observed that the vehicle was missing. No sign of physical evidence or forced entry into the vehicle was found. Vehicle was entered stolen in NCIC. Incident is under investigation.
3/27/18- Elijah Callahan Age 26 of Irvington, NJ- Officer on routine Patrol observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on John F. Kennedy Drive South. A MV Stop was conducted and the driver provided all proper identification which showed him as the register owner. The driver’s info was run through mobile data terminal which alerted officer of outstanding warrants out of Manalapan and Irvington. The driver was arrested, transported to HQ, processed, and released with a new court date
4/3/18- Jerome Jones Age 49 of Newark, NJ- Officers on routine patrol encountered a male panhandling with a cardboard sign at the Grove Street Train Station. The male provided his ID and he was record checked which alerted officers of an outstanding warrant out of Newark. Suspect was arrested, transported to HQ, processed and released on a new court date.
4/4/18- Reginald Murphy Age 49 of Newark, NJ- Officers dispatched to East Orange to pick up a suspect with warrants out of Bloomfield. The suspect was handcuffed, transported to HQ, processed and transferred to Essex County Correctional Facility.
4/5/18- Wayne Cottle Age 27 of Irvington, NJ- While on Routine Patrol officers observed a vehicle traveling south on JFK Drive make an unsafe lane change. A MV Stop was conducted and a license check revealed that the registered owner had warrants out of East Orange and Cranford. The driver showed all proper identification, he was placed under arrest, transported to HQ, summoned, and released with a new court date.
4/5/18- Justin Conover Age 29 of Newark, NJ- an Officer was dispatched to 1 Broad Street (Provident Bank) on a suspicious person. The male suspect was found sleeping on the floor of the establishment. The male identified himself by showing proper ID. Suspect was checked and had a warrant out of Hoboken. The suspect was arrested, transported to HQ, and placed in male cell waiting for Hoboken PD.
4/7/18- Joshua Garcia Age 22 of Newark, NJ- While on Routine Patrol officers observed a vehicle traveling in the area of Bloomfield Ave and Ella Street with a large object hanging from the rare view mirror. The vehicles registration was ran through the mobile data terminal which alerted officers that the driver had a warrant out of Irvington. A MV Stop was conducted. Proper identification was provided from the driver and he was arrested, transported to HQ, processed and released with a new court date.
4/8/18- Andre Lewis Age 29 of Newark, NJ- Officers dispatched to Maplewood PD for a warrant pickup out of Bloomfield Jurisdiction. The suspect was handcuffed, transported to HQ, processed and transported back out to ECCF without incident
