4/24/19- Pedro Rivera Age 39 of Newark, NJ- An officer responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a shoplifter who was running from the store towards the Grove Street train station. Officers searched the area and located a Hispanic male, wearing a gray jacket, blue jeans, black and white baseball cap, which fit the suspect’s description given by Stop & Shop. Mr. Rivera admitted to the officer’s that he stole 4 bags of shrimp, valued at $80.00, and fled the store. Rivera had the shrimp in his possession. He was arrested, transported to HQ, processed, charged with shoplifting, and transferred to Essex County Sheriff’s Office for an outstanding warrant. He has a pending court date for the shoplifting.
4/24/19- Erky Luna Age 36 of Newark, NJ- An officer responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a shoplifter in custody. The LP employee observed Mr. Luna place (3) 2 pound bags of shrimp in his pants and attempted to leave the establishment. The shrimp are valued at $84.00. Mr. Luna was detained by Stop & Shop LP until police arrival. He was handcuffed, transported to HQ, processed, charged with shoplifting and has a pending court date. Mr. Luna had 6 outstanding warrants from other agencies and was released with new court dates.
4/25/19- An officer was dispatched to 35 Lackawanna Plaza (Bloomfield Buy Rite) on report of a shoplifting. The complainant reported that a customer was in the store in the early morning hours and tried to make a purchase with his credit card but was declined. He returned at 10:50 a.m. to try and pay for items with Apple pay, which was also declined. He then took the items and fled on foot traveling north on Lackawanna Plaza towards Washington Street. The items taken were a bottle of vodka and a pack of cigarettes, a total of $17.00. A search of the area was conducted for the suspect with negative results. This incident is under investigation. Suspect’s description: stocky African American male, 5’10, wearing a black jacket, black pants, and a black/ red winter hat.
4/24/19- Adepemo Clement Age 42 of East Orange- Officers were dispatched to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a Theft. The LP employee observed a Home Depot employee on camera take (3) Milwaukee drills valued at $129.00 each and (1) Milwaukee sawzall valued at $199 each. He placed them in a cardboard box and put them in the employee break room. Later the same day, he brought the items to his car without paying. The total of the items are valued at $586.00. Mr. Clement was arrested by the Detective Bureau, processed, charged with shoplifting and released with a pending court date. All proceeds were returned to Home Depot.

4/22/19- An officer was dispatched to Spruce Street on a report of a Theft from a motorcycle. A motorcycle owner reports while uncovering his motorcycle, he observed his Sirius Radio was missing. There was no damage to the motorcycle or the area of where the radio is mounted. The radio was last seen on 4/20/19, and is valued at $149.00. This incident is under investigation.
4/23/19- An officer responded to La France Avenue on report of a package Theft. The complainant observed her neighbor take a package from her front steps on surveillance camera. The suspect was wearing a white shirt and grey sweatpants. The package contained surveillance cameras valued at $500.00 and a “Children’s Place” package worth $150.00. This incident is under investigation.
4/27/19- Officers were dispatched to Davey Street on report of a package Theft. The male complainant reports he received an alert that his package arrived at 3:00 p.m. to his home. When he arrived home at 4:30p.m., he observed his package was open with the items missing. The package contained 4 packs of Oral B toothbrushes valued at $9.00. This incident is under investigation.
4/22/19- Hakim Williams Age 28 of East Orange, NJ- The Fugitive Apprehension Team responded to East Orange on a warrant arrest. Mr. Williams was approached and advised the reason for the warrant. He was handcuffed, transported to HQ, processed, and placed in male cell awaiting court.
