BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The following police blotter has been issued by Lt. Anthony Sisco of the Bloomfield Police Department.

Shoplifting:

10/10/18-Justin Hill Age 30 of Bloomfield, NJ- Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on a report of a shoplifter in custody. Mr. Hill was observed placing 2 four packs of Red Bull valued at $17.00 in a yellow plastic bag. He then attempted to walk out of the store without paying for the items. He was detained by Stop & Shop Loss Prevention. Mr. Hill was arrested by responding officers, transported to HQ, processed, charged with shoplifting and placed in a male cell awaiting transport to E.C.C.F. He has a pending court date for this charge.

10/10/18- Officers were dispatched to 122 Bloomfield Avenue (7-11) on a report of a shoplifting. The store owner reports that an African American male entered the establishment and placed several bakery items and laundry items in his backpack and left the store without paying. The description of the suspect at the time of the incident was: African American male with a beard, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, light blue jeans, and a black backpack. Total values of items taken are $190.03. The incident was caught on the store surveillance and is under investigation

10/11/18- Kelvin Speight Age 52 of Newark, NJ- Officers were dispatched to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on a report of a shoplifter in custody. The Loss Prevention employee states that Mr. Speight was observed placing 4 bags of frozen shrimp into a blue bag that he was carrying and walked out of the store without paying. Mr. Speight was detained by Loss Prevention, arrested by officers on the scene, transported to HQ, processed, charged with shoplifting and placed in a male cell awaiting transport to ECCF. All items valued at $88.00 were recovered and returned to Stop & Shop. Mr. Speight has a pending court date for these charges.

10/11/18- An officer responded to 122 Bloomfield Avenue (7-11) on a report of a shoplifting. A bald white male entered the establishment and left the store with 5 packs of Red Bull valued at $60.00. The suspect fled on a bicycle. This incident is under investigation.

10/11/18- Officers were dispatched to 8 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on a report of a shoplifting. The complainant observed 2 male suspects enter the establishment and take 4 pair of shoes valued at $240.00 and left without paying. The suspects are described as follows:Suspect 1- African American male wearing a grey sweater with white sleeves, black pants, and a multi-color bag. Suspect 2- African American male wearing a black hooded sweater, dark jeans, and black pants. A search of the area was conducted for the suspects with negative results. This incident is under investigation.

10/11/18-Wade Tapp Age 52 of Newark, NJ- An officer responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on a report of a shoplifter in custody. Mr. Tapp was observed by a Loss Prevention employee going back and forth to his vehicle. Mr. Tapp placed 6 buckets of Henry Tropi-Cool roof coating valued at $1,374.00 and left the store without paying. Mr. Tapp was arrested, transported to HQ, processed, charged with shoplifting and released with a pending court date. All merchandise was recovered and returned to Home Depot.

10/12/18- Ronald Piacenza Age 48 of Belleville, NJ- Officers observed a male that fit the description of a shoplifting suspect. The male had in his possession several bags of shrimp from Aldi Food Store. Mr. Piacenza was arrested, transported to HQ, processed, charged with shoplifting and released with a pending court date. All proceeds were recovered and returned to Aldi Food Store.

10/13/18- Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Rite Aid) on a report of a shoplifting. The employee observed an African American female place various items in a cart and attempted to leave without paying. The female was wearing a black shirt, black pants, brown boots, carrying a backpack and gray handbag. The suspect was stopped by Loss prevention and left the items in the store. She then entered a vehicle and fled the parking lot. This incident is under investigation.

10/13/18- An officer responded to 122 Bloomfield Avenue (7-11) on a report of a shoplifting. An African American male entered the store and took several hygiene products and fled without paying. The male was wearing a blue jacket and a black hat. A search of the area was conducted for the suspect with negative results. This incident is under investigation.

Theft:

10/9/18- A complainant responded to HQ to report a theft. The female reports that while at Marshalls shopping, she dropped her green wrist wallet that contained $120.00 in cash. The wallet was later located at the counter area of the store and the cash was missing. 

Theft from Auto:

10/13/18- A complainant responded to HQ to report a Theft from Auto. The female reported that her vehicle was parked in front of Municipal Plaza between the hours of 11:00 A.M. and 11:30 A.M. on 10/13/18.When she later returned she observed her wallet missing from inside the vehicle. The wallet contained $10 cash, multiple credit cards and her driver’s license. The complainant believes she left the vehicle unlocked. Package Theft:

10/10/18- A complainant responded to HQ to report a package Theft. The female states that Amazon delivered her package to her front porch on 10/8/18 at 2:22 P.M. When she arrived home, the package was not there. The package contained a vehicle jumper system valued at $113.00. This incident is under investigation. Motor Vehicle Theft: 10/9/18- An officer responded to 425 Bloomfield Avenue (BMW Dealer) on a report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant states a BMW in their lot was last seen on 10/8/18 at 9:00 P.M. On 10/10/18 at 7:30 A.M., the vehicle was not in the lot. The vehicle is a 2002 red BMW RI registration 334456. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen.

10/11/18-An officer was dispatched to Llewellyn Avenue on a report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The owner of the vehicle parked his vehicle on 10/11/18 at 10:00 A.M. When he returned a 1:45 P.M., the vehicle was missing. The driver believes the front passenger side door was unlocked. The vehicle is described as a 2011White Ford Van NJ Registration P39HSX. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen.

Burglary:

10/10/18- Officers were dispatched to Ella Street on a report of a Burglary. The complainants share a common driveway and observed that a few items were missing from their garage. A Dark Gray Schwinn bicycle valued at $250.00 and a 25 foot ladder valued at $200.00 were taken from the garage. The garage does not fully close and is kept half way open. One resident recalls seeing an unknown male in the area of the yard with items that looked familiar to what he owns. This incident is under investigation.

Warrant Arrest:

10/8/18- Amber Curry Age 27 of Lodi, NJ-The Fugitive Team Officers responded to Lodi on a warrant arrest. Ms. Curry was approached and informed of her outstanding warrant from Bloomfield. Mrs. Curry was arrested, transported to HQ, processed and released with a new court date.

10/8/18- Tyrone Harris Age 32 of Roselle, NJ- An officer in the area of Bloomfield Avenue observed a male cross the street and obstruct traffic. The male suspect was stopped, approached, and checked through Central Communications. The officer was alerted that Mr. Harris had a warrant out of Dover Township. Mr. Harris was arrested, transported to HQ, processed and released with a new court date. 

10/12/18- Keith Venable Age 36 of East Orange, NJ- An officer in the area of Dodd Street observed a vehicle traveling with a broken driver side tail light and brake light out. A MV Stop was conducted; the driver was approached and provided all proper identification. Mr. Venable had an outstanding warrant out of Irvington Township. He was arrested, transported to HQ, processed, bailed out, and released without incident.
