South Orange Neighborhoods Association (SONA) in conjunction with South Orange Seniors and North Jersey Neighborhoods Connected (NJNC) will be sponsoring "BEYOND SPEED BUMPS - Alternatives for Traffic Calming," a free conference at Seton Hall University on June 9 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Not every town can afford to put in a speed bump! And they can't do it on every street! So here we offer a free seminar of experienced speakers with insightful presentations to prompt ideas about traffic calming, safety and alternative methods for slowing traffic. Creative initiatives often start at grass-roots levels: from intersection painting to street redesign.

Four speakers from New Jersey will explore out-of-the-box ideas concerning traffic calming:
