Bloomfield Resident Publishes Unique First Book
Bloomfield resident Karl Hughes has published his first book, offering readers insights into living a successful life. Hammering Out a Living was born out of Karl’s passion for mentoring the young apprentices he meets as a carpentry instructor, but his messages on success are universal.
The book’s unique format is 140 brief, hard-hitting tips on goal setting and navigating the path to a successful life. Topics covered include the importance of values and reputation, the use of affirmations, math for life, and how to plan for success.
One representative tip looks at how attitude affects outcome:
If you start your day saying, "Today is going to suck," you're right! If you start your day saying,
"Today will be a good day," you're right! What are you saying?
“I wrote this book with my fellow blue-collar tradesmen and women in mind, but the messages apply to all,” said Karl. “So many of us struggle to find and travel our path in life. We need these positive messages to help us on the journey. “
Karl has 45 years of experience in the NYC area construction industry as a master carpenter, union member, business owner and trade instructor. He shares the lessons he learned along the way in his book, and as a speaker on personal, professional and financial success. In addition to mentoring others in his professional career, Karl has guided hundreds of area youth as a long-time Scout leader with Bloomfield’s Troop 22.
Hammering Out a Living is available now in hard copy and electronic formats via Amazon, with an audio book launching soon. There will be a special five day promotion with free downloads available on Amazon, starting August 5th.
