BLOOMFIELD, NJ--With the arrival of spring, the Bloomfield Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs Department is usually in full swing with a wide array of sports and activities planned around town.  In light of a governmental shut down, the department has stepped up and now is offering a series of on-line program videos.

Today the department released 12 on-line fitness videos taught by Nicole Gomez to keep Bloomfield residents physically fit as they shelter in place.  With outdoor fitness opportunities being extremely limited, the exercises were designed to be performed in the comfort of your own home using the individual's own body weight.

"We realize that this is a very difficult time for our residents and community as a whole" said Director Michael Sceurman.  "With the schools being closed and most of our residents working from home we wanted to come up with a unique approach to keep our recreational programs available to our township."

The Bloomfield Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs Department is currently working with several of their program instructors to offer more on-line videos with a wide variety of genres including yoga, meditation, zumba and art to name a few.  They hope to release a new series each week.

"Now more than ever we need to take a holistic approach to wellness which addresses the mind, body and spirit.  We hope these videos provide an outlet during these stressful times" said Sceurman.  I'd like to thank my staff, program instructors and the staff from WBMATV for their efforts."
