BLOOMFIELD, NJ-- Bloomfield residents Terri Venezia & Mary Jo DiMilia, M.D. are raising funds to support research to find a cure for Cystinosis. Cystinosis is rare inherited disease affecting children which presents between 9 & 18 months of age. Individuals with this disease form crystals in major organs of their body, especially the kidneys. Despite early diagnosis and medication, kidney failure will occur requiring a kidney transplant. Prior to the discovery of medication to treat this disease, children with Cystinosis died by the age of 5.

The local pair is hosting a fundraiser on June 14, 2018 to help find a cure.  The Brookdale Tavern + Kitchen in Bloomfield will be hosting the “Dining with A Purpose” event and the restaurant owners will generously donate 25% of your tab.  It will run from 4 PM to closing and all you have to do is mention to your server that you are attending the event.
