MADISON, NJ - Last week RJ Graddy, a 26 year old alum of the Madison Track & Field program suffered a freak accident in an athletic event which severed an artery in his leg and resulted in the amputation of his left leg.

Graddy volunteered for 8 years in the youth and High School program in Madison.

"Any kid in our program that learned the Long Jump from 2008-2015 learned it from RJ…..plus he and his Mom, Sharon, ran our Long Jump Pit at every Meet for 10 + years," said Mike Quinn of Madison.

Graddy graduated from college and took a job in Austin, Texas, which is where the tragedy occurred. His family still lives in Madison.

Quinn has set up a GoFundMe page to help offset the famiily's travel expenses and for non-covered medical costs.

Graddy holds every jumping record in Madison HS history as well won 10 Sectional medals and 2 Sectional Championships for Madison.
