BLOOMFIELD, NJ-- Over the weekend, the Township of Bloomfield hired an outside contractor to clean and disinfect all municipal buildings in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. The company, ServPro, used a hospital grade disinfectant recommended by the CDC.
As previously reported, a Bloomfield couple has tested positive for the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Despite numerous requests for further information from different sources, the Township has made a statement that they will not be releasing their names or where in town they resided.. It was released that they’re both in their 70’s and were recently overseas. The health department is getting a list of locations and people they were/if in contact with.
All Bloomfield schools are closed starting Monday, March 16th. While the initial plan is a two week shut-down that will end on 3/30, Governor Murphy is expected to hold a press conference tomorrow ordering all schools in New Jersey to be closed indefinitely. All Township parking meter enforcement will be suspended through the end of March to promote local shopping. “Small businesses are a critical part of our community and with people avoiding going out at this time we believe this will be an incentive for people to stop in to our local businesses,” said Mayor Michael Venezia.
