BLOOMFIELD, NJ - On Saturday, June 1, the Bloomfield Beautification Committee, with assistance from elected officials, community volunteers, the Township of Bloomfield Department of Public Works, and Property Services Landscaping, spent the morning gardening and planting outside the Children’s Library at the Bloomfield Public Library on Broad Street.
The gardens include many native and pollinator-friendly plants. Garden layouts were designed by members of the Beautification Committee including Martha Felix, Susana Sotillo, Suzanne Greydanus, Susan Moseson, Michael Locante and Jenni Gamble.
“The Township of Bloomfield is fortunate to have a wealth of dedicated volunteers who are willing to lend their skills and expertise to projects like this one,” said Councilwoman Jenny Mundell, council liaison to the Bloomfield Beautification Committee. “I look forward to seeing these gardens bloom for years to come.”
The Children's Library also engaged young patrons with activities including painting and planting garden stakes, colorful chalk drawings, and a seed planting project for kids to take home.
The Bloomfield Beautification Committee is a mayoral appointed committee dedicated to working within Bloomfield to create a welcoming, verdant environment in our town.
