BLOOMFIELD, NJ-- The 2020 graduation season is upon us, and we can all agree that this is a year is unlike any other.  With uncertainty abound throughout the United States as far as end of year commencement ceremonies, some unique ideas have emerged to make this time a more memorable one for high school seniors.

Bloomfield resident Tina Cochran had an idea for her daughter Felicia and her Bloomfield High School Class of 2020 classmates.  She started the "Celebrate Bloomfield High School Seniors" Facebook page so the community, teachers and others could adopt a BHS senior.

"I invited my own friends and posted it on all the Bloomfield related Facebook pages.  Seniors or parents were asked to post pictures and a "my favorite things" page. Once they posted, the first person that commented that they wanted to adopt them would be their adopter," said Cochran.

Once a senior was assigned to an adopter, it was up to them what they wanted to do for the student. "Sometimes I reached out and passed addresses via PM and other times I would have the adopter PM the student or parent for address. I've had around 200 seniors post and get adopted right away. There are still about 250 seniors that haven't posted. The support and generosity has been amazing!" Cochran added.

There are currently about 900 members on the page. There have been many generous  gifts given out including flowers, gifts cards, money, college spirit wear, Bloomfield 2020 spirit wear, candy and more.
