BLOOMFIELD, NJ-- Joseph Critchley was promoted to the rank of Fire Captain in a ceremony this evening at Bloomfield High School. A large crowd of family, friends and fellow firefighters helped celebrate the event. Mayor Michael Venezia was on hand to swear in the new Captain.

Critchley, a seven year veteran of the Bloomfield Fire Department, comes from a family of firefighters.  His paternal grandfather is a retired Captain in the Newark Fire Department and his father is a retired Deputy Chief in the Bloomfield Fire Department.

Fire Chief Louis Venezia addressed the crowd and praised the newly promoted Captain.  "I'm extremely proud of Captain Critchley.  He is an important asset to our fire department and I expect big things from him in the near future."
