Theft from Auto
4/6/2020- On Monday 04/06/20 at approximately 03:23 hours, officers were dispatched to Oakwood Ave on report of cars being vandalized. Officers met with the resident who observed three males going through both of his vehicle's that were parked in his driveway. He was asleep when he heard a loud noise outside his window and observed the males. The suspects fled on Oakwood Ave and turned onto Harrison Street towards Newark Ave. Suspect’s description: 1. Male suspect, slim build, wearing a red hooded sweater with a scarf covering his mouth. 2. Male suspect, slim build, wearing a black hooded sweater. 3. Male suspect, slim build, wearing white pants.
4/6/2020- On April 6, 2020, at approximately 12:30 p.m., a Waldo Avenue resident contacted the Bloomfield Police Department to report a Theft from auto. He entered his vehicle, a blue 2017 Mazda and observed the glove box, center console and glass compartment was rummaged through. Upon making an assessment of missing property, he determined that his wallet containing multiple credit cards, and his NJ driver's license was missing. His credit card was used at Wendy’s in Bloomfield, NJ.
4/8/2020-A Maple Street resident responded to police HQ to report a theft from his vehicle. On 4/7/2020 at 2:00 p.m. he parked his vehicle with the doors locked on Maple Street. On 4/8/2020 at 6:45 a.m. he went to his vehicle and observed that his center console was rummaged through. Missing from the vehicle was his NJ State PBA shield.
4/11/2020-A resident from Harrison Street reported a theft from her motor vehicle. The resident parked her Honda Accord on 4/9/2020 at 5:00 p.m. On 4/11/2020 at 2:45 p.m. she entered her vehicle and discovered the front passenger door was open, which was left unlocked, and the interior was ransacked. Missing from the vehicle was various music CD's and (1) blank National Valley Bank check. She last observed the vehicle intact on Friday, 04/10/20 at approximately 6:00 p.m.
4/12/2020- On 4/12/2020 a Barnett Street resident contacted Bloomfield PD to report a theft which occurred at approximately 6:33 a.m. The resident received flowers and baked goods from a neighbor which were left on her front porch. At 06:33 a.m. she received a RING doorbell alert which showed a female with brown hair wearing a long black coat walking a white dog walk up to the front porch and takes the items. She then walked down Barnett Street. The items taken are valued at $30.00.
Motor Vehicle Theft:
4/7/2020-On 04/07/2020, an officer took a telephone report of a stolen motor vehicle. The owner last saw his vehicle in front of his residence on Olive Street on 04/06/20 at 7:30 p.m. The vehicle was locked however he keeps a spare key fob inside the vehicle. The vehicle is a blue Hyundai Sonata, NJ registration J36LSF and was entered NCIC stolen.
4/8/2020- An officer took a telephone report of a stolen motor vehicle on 4/8/2020. The owner parked his vehicle on JFK Drive just north of Myrtle Street against the eastern curb line facing north. The vehicle is a 2018 gold Nissan Rogue, NJ registration U14KBD. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen.
4/11/2020- On 4/11/20 at approximately 3:07 a.m. officers were flagged down by a passerby in a vehicle who observed that the front door of the 7- Eleven located at 630 Bloomfield Avenue was broken. Officers responded and observed the front glass door was broken and unlocked. Officers entered the establishment to search for any suspect(s) which was negative.
After reviewing the in-store security footage, officers were able to observe an individual approach the store at approximately 00:16 hours. The individual was carrying several white plastic bags which appear to contain a heavy object. He then strikes the glass door several times with the bag, shattering the glass and creating a hole that he can then use to fit his arm through and unlock the door. The suspect then enters the store at approximately 00:20 hours, goes behind the counter and begins placing packs of cigarette and cigarette cartons into the white plastic bags he is carrying. After several minutes, the individual exits the store on foot towards Bloomfield Avenue. A picture of the suspect is below. If anyone can assist in identifying this suspect, contact Det. 4/11/2020- An officer on patrol noticed that the front glass door to the convenience store located at 369 Bloomfield Ave was shattered but the glass was still intact. This door was locked and appears that no entry was made into the establishment. The owner of the store was able to retrieve video surveillance which shows a male throw an object in a white bag at the glass door once and then walked west on Bloomfield Avenue at approximately 11:50 p.m.
Suspect description: a male, unknown on race, wearing dark pants and blue hoody jacket
