07/13/2020 & 7/19/2020-Ronald Jones, 56 of Irvington NJ-On 7/13/2020 officers responded to 331 Broad St (CVS) on report of a shoplifting incident that occurred. Loss Prevention officer stated that a male entered the establishment and stole eleven Irish Spring deodorants and fled the store without paying. This incident is under investigation.
07/19/2020-Ronald Jones, age 56 of Irvington NJ-Officers again responded to 331 Broad St on report of a shoplifting incident. Patrol officers were given a description of the suspect who had just shoplifted and fled the store wearing a camo backpack. Mr. Jones was apprehended by patrol officers and charged with shoplifting on both of the above incidents. Mr. Jones was issued a summons and has a pending court date.
07/13/2020-Edil Hernandez-Torres age 36 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to 250 Glenwood Ave (CVS) on report of a shoplifting that just occurred. Upon police arrival, officers were flagged down by Loss Prevention who had Mr. Hernandez-Torres in custody for concealing numerous store items under his jacket. All items were valued at $238.00 and recovered by CVS. Mr. Hernandez Torres was issued a summons for shoplifting and given a court date of 9/18/2020.
07/14/2020-Cecil Mitchell-Thomas age 29 of Irvington NJ-Officers responded to 250 Glenwood Ave (CVS) on report of a shoplifting that just occurred. Patrol Officers located the described shoplifter and apprehended Mr. Mitchell-Thomas. He concealed numerous bottles of Ensure Drink into a bag and left the store without paying. Mr. Mitchell-Thomas was arrested and issued a summons for shoplifting and has a pending court date.
07/14/2020- Bloomfield telephone reporting unit received a call from 331 Broad St (CVS) on report of a shoplifting incident that occurred on 7/13/2020. Loss Prevention observed a Hispanic female enter the establishment and stole several Deodorants valued at $100.00. The female then fled the store without paying. This incident is under investigation.
7/16/2020 – Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Ave (Walgreens) on report of a shoplifting incident. On 7/16/2020 at 2:37 p.m., the Walgreens Loss prevention officer observed a male conceal $345.00 worth of Head and Shoulders Shampoo from the shelf and place it into his back pack. The suspect then fled the store without paying. This incident is under investigation. A picture of the suspect is below.
07/18/2020-Ramon Sosa age 28 of East Orange NJ-Officers responded to 60 Orange St (Home Depot) on report of a shoplifting that just occurred. Officers spoke to Home Depot Loss Prevention who had Mr. Sosa in custody for attempting to leave the store with two Dewalt power drills valued at $388.00. Mr. Sosa was arrested and charged with shoplifting. Mr. Sosa was issued a summons and has a pending court date.
07/19/2020-Marcus Rawls age 52 of Newark NJ-Officers responded to 312 Glenwood Ave on report of a theft that just occurred. The store owner observed an African American male, late 50’s, enter the store and place numerous items into his blue and red back pack. The suspect’s description was broadcasted to patrol officers who located Mr. Rawls. He was arrested and issued a summons for shoplifting and has a pending court date.

07/16/2020-Tyquan Jackson age 18 of Newark NJ Jaquan Jackson age 18 of Newark NJ Jahmar Caine age 19 of Newark NJ Officers responded to the intersection of Washington and Thomas Streets on report of several males attempting to gain entry into vehicles. Officers located the above suspects who fled from the police on foot and then were apprehended by patrol officers. After an investigation, it was determined that the above arrested parties entered into 5 vehicles and stole items. All persons listed were charged with Burglary, Theft and Receiving Stolen Property. They all have pending court dates.
07/19/2020 – Officers responded to the area of Elmwood Avenue on report of a burglary into auto. A resident reported that someone entered his vehicle, rummaged through his glove box and console, but nothing appeared to be taken at this time. This incident is under investigation.

07/13/2020-Bloomfield Telephone reporting unit received a call from a Davey Street resident stating that between July 1, 2020 and July 7 2020, someone signed for several of her packages. This person received her packages from the delivery driver and never turned packages over to the her. This incident is under investigation.
07/16/2020-A resident responded to the Bloomfield Police Desk to report a package theft that occurred on Edgewood Ave. The package contained two IPhone 11 battery packs valued at $159.00. This incident is under investigation.
07/17/2020-An officer spoke to a resident from Bloomfield Avenue and took a report of a package theft. On July 14, 2020 at 1:54 p.m., her package was delivered to the lobby of her building. When she went to retrieve the package, the package was gone. The package contained medical masks valued at $50.00. This incident is under investigation.
07/17/2020-Officers responded to 279 Bloomfield Avenue on report of a package theft. A resident had her Intex Queen Air mattress valued at $48.00 delivered at 1:35 p.m. on 7/16/2020. After reviewing video surveillance, three African American males were observed taking the package. This incident is under investigation.
Motor Vehicle Theft:
07/14/2020-An officer took a report of a stolen motor vehicle. On 7/13/2020 between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 10:09 a.m. on 7/14/2020, the owner’s vehicle was parked in front of 426 Berkeley Avenue. When the owner came back the vehicle, it was gone. The vehicle is described as a 2012 white Ford Econoline van. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation.
07/19/2020-Officers responded to the area of Berkeley Avenue on report of a stolen auto that just occurred. The vehicle stolen, a 2008 Honda CRV was involved in a crash on Berkeley Avenue. The driver of the vehicle then fled from the car. Patrol units searched the area for suspects with negative results. This incident is under investigation.
07/13/2020-Arron Larathe age 19 of Irvington NJ-On 7/13/2020 a victim walked into the Police Desk to report that he was robbed at the Exxon Gas Station located at 491 Bloomfield Avenue. He stated that two African American males entered into his vehicle and struck him with a .22 Cal handgun and stole his Apple Air pods. This incident was investigated by the Bloomfield Detective Bureau which lead to the arrest of Mr. Larathe. He was charged with Robbery and Weapons charges and has a pending court date. The investigation is still ongoing for other suspects.
