Shoplifting: 

07/06/2020-Officers responded to 331 Broad St (CVS) on report of a shoplifting. The store manager observed a male enter the store and place medicine products into his jacket. As the suspect was approached, he left the store through the back exit and then entered a vehicle. Proceeds are valued at $45.00. This incident is currently being investigated. 07/09/2020-Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Walgreens) on report of a shoplifting that had just occurred. The store manager observed an African American male take numerous bottles of Ensure Nutrition drinks valued at $154.00 dollars. The suspect then fled on a bicycle east on Bloomfield Avenue towards Newark. This incident is under investigation. See below for suspect description.

07/09/2020-Officers responded to 1409 Broad Street (Shop Rite) on report of a shoplifting. On 7/9/2020 at 17:45 hours, the Loss Prevention manager observed an African American male fill his cart with Ensure Nutritional drinks and walk out of the store without paying. The drinks are valued at $150.00. The male suspect loaded the drinks into a vehicle and left the lot. This incident is under investigation. See pictures below. 

Theft: 

07/07/2020-Officers responded to Liberty Street (Bloomfield College) on report of a theft. Bloomfield College staff was setting up for an event and someone stole numerous items from their rolling cart. Items taken were a pair of roller blades, corn hole boards, catering trays and a sign. Items taken are valued at $400.00 dollars. This incident is under investigation. 

07/08/2020-Officers responded to 1255 Broad Street on report of a theft of a cellphone. The female complainant was working at her desk in the hallway of the building. She went into the office and when she returned, the cell phone was not where she left it. This incident is under investigation. See below for suspect photos. 

07/09/2020-Officers responded to the 700 block of Broad Street on report of a stolen bicycle. The resident’s bicycle was left in her driveway between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. When she returned at 6:00 p.m., the bicycle was gone. The bicycle is a light blue Schwinn valued at $100.00. This incident is under investigation. See below for suspect. 7/10/2020-Officers responded to the area of West Passaic Avenue on report of a theft. The resident reports that someone stole the antenna off of his vehicle that was parked and covered in his driveway sometime between May 15, 2020 and July 10, 2020. This incident is under investigation. 

07/12/2020- Officers responded to the area of Spruce Street on report of a stolen bicycle. The resident’s bicycle was chained to the stair rail by his rear door at 2:00 a.m. When he returned the next morning the bicycle chain was cut and the bicycle was gone. The bicycle is a black and green colored Cannondale Quick 4 valued at $800.00. This incident is under investigation. See pictures below. 

Theft from Auto: 

07/6/2020-Officers responded to 26 Lackawanna Plaza (Bloomfield Parking Garage) on report of thefts from autos. Several vehicle owners report having items taken from their vehicle from 7/6/2020 to 7/10/2020. These incidents are currently being investigated. See below for suspect photos. 

07/9/2020 - Officers responded to 26 Lackawanna Plaza (Bloomfield Parking Garage) on report of several thefts from autos. The victims parked their vehicles on 07/08/2020 in the garage and when they returned on 7/9/2020, their vehicles were entered by unknown actors. This incident is currently being investigated. See below for suspect photos. 7/7/2020-Officers responded to the area of 8 East Passaic Avenue on report of a theft from auto. Officers observed the victim’s window smashed with a rock. An unknown suspect entered the center console and glove box of the vehicle. Nothing appeared to be taken at this time. This incident is under investigation. 

7/7/2020-Officers responded to the area of Baldwin Street on report of a theft from auto. The resident parked his 2005 Honda Odyssey on Baldwin Street between 4:00 a.m. and when they returned at 7:46 p.m., the vehicle was entered and rummaged through. Items taken were $10.00 in change. 

07/11/2020- Officers responded to the area of Pine Street on report of a theft from auto. Someone entered the resident’s vehicle and rummaged through the glove box and center console. Items taken were sunglasses valued at $20.00. This incident is under investigation. 

Package Theft: 

07/06/2020-Antonio Montalvo age 47 of Newark, NJ. At 0403 hours, Officers, stopped a suspicious person who was yelling in the middle of Broad Street. The above individual had in his possession a package that was later found out to be stolen from 172 Belleville Avenue in Bloomfield. Officers issued a summons to Mr. Montalvo for theft and was later released with a court date. 

07/09/2020-Officers responded to the area of Lakewood Terrace on report of a package theft. The resident left numerous packages on his front steps to dry after he sprayed them with Lysol. The packages were left outside between 23:15 to 00:09 hours on 7/9/2020. There were a total of six packages taken. The packages were gifts and the amount is unable to be determined at this time. This incident is under investigation. 

Motor Vehicle Theft: 

07/06/2020-Officers responded to 97 Orange Street (103 Auto Sales) on report of a stolen motor vehicle. The vehicle owner stated that sometime between March 23, 2020 and July 6, 2020 he observed that his 2013 Nissan Rogue was stolen from his used car lot. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen by VIN. This incident is under investigation. 

07/11/2020-Officer responded to the area of Walnut Street on report of a motor vehicle theft. The vehicle owner parked her vehicle at 8:00 p.m. on 7/10/2020 and when she returned the next morning at 6:20 a.m., the vehicle was gone. The vehicle is a white 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation. 

07/11/2020-Officers responded to Dodd Street on report of a motor vehicle theft. The vehicle owner observed on his surveillance video, a male entered his van at 22:30 hours. Several minutes later, the vehicle left the lot on Dodd Street towards East Orange. The vehicle is a white Ford Econoline van. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation. 

Burglary: 

07/10/2020-Officers responded to 143 Grove Street (Tobacco King) on report of an attempted burglary. Officers spoke with a witness who stated that two males were hitting the front door to the business with a hammer attempting to gain entry. Officers checked the area for suspects with negative results. This incident is under investigation. 

Robbery: 

07/07/2020-Officers responded to the area of North 17th Street and Beardsley Avenue at 05:00 a.m. on report of a carjacking. The victim was in the process of moving his vehicles in the driveway when a white SUV traveling south on North 17th Street, approached his vehicle. An African American male exited the passenger seat of the suspect vehicle, shoved the victim to the ground, and fled in the victim’s 2008 Subaru Forester. The vehicle was later recover in Newark after it was involved in an accident. The suspect is still at large. This incident is under investigation.

These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to the ongoing investigations, information will not be released at this time. The information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
