Shoplifting:

6/4/2020- Matthew Rodriguez Age 25 of Newark, NJ- An officer responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a shoplifting. The loss prevention worker observed Mr. Rodriguez place three flashlights and two wireless headphones into his back pack. He was stopped, detained, and provided all proper credentials. Mr. Rodriguez was arrested, transported to HQ, processed, charged with shoplifting, issued a summons, released and has pending court date. The items are valued at $300.00 and were returned to Home Depot. 

6/6/2020- An employee from 331 Broad Street (CVS Pharmacy) called HQ to report a shoplifting that occurred earlier in the day. On

6/6/2020 between the hours of 10:00-11:00 a.m., a female entered the store and placed multiple items in her pocket and left without paying. The female suspect left the store on foot heading north on Broad Street. This incident is under investigation. Suspect description: a dark complexion African American female approximately 5’5-5’7 in height, 145 pounds, wearing grey shorts, a green sweater or jacket, and a knee brace on her left knee. 

6/7/2020- Arturo Deas Age 49 of East Orange, NJ- Officers were dispatched to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a shoplifter in custody. Mr. Deas attempted to leave the store with merchandise which he concealed in a Home Depot shopping bag. Proceeds from the shoplifting were four headsets and two wireless home smart devices. The items are valued at $238.92. Home Depot recovered all items. Mr. Deas was arrested, transported to HQ, processed, charged with shoplifting, issued a summons, and released. He has a pending court date. 

Theft: 

6/3/2020- A Vernon Terrace resident responded to HQ to report a Theft. On Tuesday June 2, 2020 his Home Depot delivery of heavy, 16 foot pressure treated lumber was removed from his front yard sometime during the day. The lumber is valued at $200.59. This incident is under investigation. 

Theft from Auto 

6/7/20- A Baldwin Place resident called HQ to report a Theft from Auto. On 6/6/2020-6/7/2020 between the hours of 7:00 p.m.-11:00 a.m., his vehicle was parked in front of his residence and left unlocked. Someone entered his vehicle and took the driver’s manual that contained the vehicle registration and insurance card. The passenger side rear view mirror was also cracked. 

Package Theft: 

6/5/20- A resident from Yantecaw Avenue called HQ to report a package theft. The resident observed a Middle Eastern male on his front porch steal his package that was delivered from UPS. The package is valued at $100.00. Suspect description: Middle Eastern male 5’9, full beard, short hair, wearing a white shirt and green sweatpants. 

Motor Vehicle Theft: 

6/3/20- A Park Street resident called to report a Motor Vehicle Theft. On 6/2/2020 between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 2:03 p.m. on 6/3/2020, someone stole his vehicle that was parked in the Bloomfield High School parking lot. The vehicle is described as a black 2013 Nissan wagon, NJ registration Z16AJV. The vehicle was entered NCIC Stolen. 

Burglary: 

6/6/2020- An officer responded to 111 Franklin Street (Hand Car Wash) on report of a Burglary. The owner opened for business at 8:00 a.m. on 6/6/2020 and observed a broken window. There were signs of forced entry to a side window of the business. There was a total of $10.00 in quarters taken. This incident is under investigation.
