07/03/2020-Michael Gonzalez-Vasques age 25 of Paterson, NJ-Officers were dispatched to 60 Orange St (Home Depot) on report of a shoplifting. Mr. Gonzalez-Vasques was in custody for attempting to take tools by using a shopping cart and walking through the exit doors without paying. The items he attempted to take were: Electric Pressure Washer, Gas 2 Stroke Cycle Chain saw, 9 Amp Corded Spade Handle Mud Mixer, 140 Amp Welder, 14 in. Bolt Cutter, Carbide Rotary Hammer Drill Bit, and a Security Safe. The total amount shoplifted was $2,124.35. Mr. Gonzalez- Vasquez was charged with shoplifting and has a pending court date.
07/04/2020-Malik Alston age 26 of East Orange, NJ-Officers were dispatched to 60 Orange St (Home Depot) on report of a shoplifting. Loss Prevention had the above arrestee in custody for attempting to walk out of the store with a Honda EB2800 generator valued at $999.00. Mr. Alston was charged with shoplifting and has a pending court date.
07/04/2020-Officers were dispatched to 331 Broad St (CVS) on report of a shoplifting. On 7/4/2020 at 2054 hours, a male entered the store, walked into the cosmetic aisle and grabbed 4 hair buzzers. He then placed them into his coat, and fled the store without paying. The hair buzzers are valued at $177.00 dollars. This incident is under investigation. Suspect description: Hispanic male, thin build, wearing a long black coat, grey hat, and black sneakers with red soles.
07/05/2020-Jaysen Williams age 43 of Orange, NJ-Officers were dispatched to 60 Orange St (Home Depot) on report of a shoplifting. Loss Prevention had Mr. Williams in custody who attempted to leave the store with a cordless drill and battery set valued at $248.00. He was charged with shoplifting and has a pending court date.
07/05/2020-Lorenzo Chatmon age 61 of East Orange, NJ-Officers were dispatched to 60 Orange St (Home Depot) on report of a shoplifting. Loss Prevention had the above arrestee in custody for attempting to walk out of the store without paying for a window air conditioner valued at $379.00. Mr. Chatmon was charged with shoplifting and has a pending court date.
06/29/2020-A Linden Avenue resident responded to the front desk to report a theft. She was missing her rent money from her residence valued at $2,200.00. She also noticed things missing in the residence since March 2020. Items missing since March include: Air Pods, jewelry, and cash valued at $3000.00. This incident is currently under investigation.
Theft from Auto
06/30/2020-Brandon Salley age 19 of Newark, NJ-a Montgomery Street resident parked his vehicle in his driveway on 06/29/2020 at approximately 1630 hours. His second vehicle was also parked in the vicinity. Both vehicles were broken into and items were stolen. After an investigation, Mr. Salley was arrested and charged with burglary and theft. He has a pending court date.
07/05/2020-Arturo Deas age 49 of East Orange, NJ-A resident from Crown Street responded to the Police Desk to report a package theft that just occurred. The resident showed the desk officer surveillance video of a suspect taking the package. A description of the suspect was quickly given to officers, who located the suspect with the package and made the arrest. Mr. Deas was charged with theft and has a pending court date.
Motor Vehicle Theft:
06/30/2020-A North 17th Street resident parked his vehicle on 06/29/2020 at approximately 2100 hours on North 17th Street. On 6/30/2020 at approximately 0700 hours he noticed his vehicle was missing. The vehicle is a white 2001 Honda CRV. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is currently under investigation.
7/2/2020-Officers responded to the area of Orange Street on report of a stolen motor vehicle. The victim left the vehicle for approximately 40 minutes and upon returning to the vehicle, it was missing. The vehicle is a white 2006 Ford Econoline van. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation.
6/30/2020-Luz Argueta Age 20 of Bloomfield, NJ and Juvenile. Officers responded to the area of Memorial Park on report of a robbery. Upon arrival, officers located two victims. The victims reported that they were assaulted by 3-4 male suspects and 2 female suspects. The suspects took the following items from the victims and fled the area on foot. The proceeds of the robbery are an IPhone and jewelry valued at $700. During a canvass of the area officers located 2 females matching the description the victim had provided. The victim positively identified both female suspects in the robbery. Ms. Argueta was charged with robbery and conspiracy and the juvenile involved was also charged with the same. Both have pending court dates. This incident is currently under further investigation.
