5/27/20- A resident from North 16th Street called to report a theft of a bicycle. On May 27, 2020 at 7:34 a.m., the resident observed an African American male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt walk up his driveway and takes his custom bicycle that was leaning on his trailer. The suspect traveled from First Avenue with a bike and left with both bicycles. The bicycle is grey and valued at $600.00. This incident is under investigation. Theft from Auto
5/26/20- A Broad Street resident called to report a Burglary into Auto. Between 5/26/2020 and 5/27/2020 during the overnight hours someone entered the resident’s vehicle that was parked in the driveway. The vehicle was ransacked and $3.00 in loose change was taken. No forced entry was observed on the vehicle.
5/28/20- A Park Avenue resident called HQ to report a Theft from Auto. The resident parked his vehicle on 5/27/2020 at 7:00 p.m. On 5/28/2020 at 7:45 a.m., he observed his dash cam, (2) IPhone chargers, and his vehicle registration missing from the vehicle. The items taken are valued at $140.00. This incident is under investigation.
5/31/20- An officer was dispatched to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a Theft from Auto. The complainant was in Home Depot between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on 5/31/2020. When she returned to her vehicle, she noticed her beige pocketbook missing from the passenger side floor.
The vehicle has a small hole under the driver side door lock and believes that is how the suspect made entry. The pocketbook contained a red wallet filled with credit cards and a total of $4,000.00 in checks. This incident is under investigation.
5/26/20- A Fremont Street resident was alerted by Amazon that his package was delivered at 3:05 p.m. to the front of his building. At 3:15 p.m. he observed a male on surveillance camera, later identified as Thomas Molina takes the package and leave. The package contained shampoo and conditioner valued at $6.00. Mr. Molina was charged with theft and has a pending court date.
5/29/20- A resident from Collins Avenue called to report a Package Theft. The resident’s package was delivered by Fed Ex to her neighbor’s house. When she went to retrieve the package, it was missing. A Hispanic female wearing a blue medical face mask was observed on surveillance video taking the package and entered a grey Honda Civic. A search of the area was conducted with negative results. The package contained $300.00 in Breast Milk. This incident is under investigation. Motor Vehicle Theft:
5/26/2020-Officers responded to 56 Broad Street on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft that just occurred. The owner of a Honda CRV left his vehicle parked and running with the keys in the ignition and entered BGR restaurant to pick up food. As he was inside, he observed an African American male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt enter his vehicle and drive north on Broad Street.
Officer Lembo was on patrol on Belleville Avenue and observed the Honda that was just stolen. He followed the vehicle and attempted a motor vehicle stop. The driver accelerated and lost control while making a left hand turn onto Edgewood Avenue. The vehicle was disabled and Officer Lembo quickly apprehended the juvenile suspect. He was transported to HQ, processed and charged with Motor Vehicle Theft.
5/31/20- A Montgomery Street resident responded to HQ to report a Burglary. At 8:00 a.m. the resident observed that her black Rebecca Minkoff purse valued at $250.00 was missing from her kitchen. The back door of her residence was left unlocked while she was working in her backyard, and did notice it ajar when she returned. The purse contained her NJ Driver’s License, Bank of America Visa Credit Card, and Insurance Card. Her card was used at 7-11 in Elizabeth and a $70.00 purchase was made. This incident is under investigation.
5/27/20- A LaFrance resident responded to HQ to report a robbery. While walking on LaFrance Avenue at 10:00 a.m., she was struck from behind and lost consciousness. When she awoke she observed her pink IPhone case containing her IPhone 8, a purple purse, and a multicolored purse containing her Bank of America Debit Card was missing. The items taken are valued at $305.00. This incident is under investigation.
