MONTCLAIR, NJ - Montclair High School is currently on lockdown, officials confirmed. Nearby Renaissance Middle School has also been affected, since it is in close proximity to Montclair Highs School.
Police and administration are at the scene investigating and students cannot yet be picked up by parents, school officials have announced. Details surrounding the threat have yet to be announced.
Preliminary reports from unnamed official sources indicate that there was a possible threat, but no weapon. However, this information has yet to be confirmed or denied by school district officials.
In a message to families, Superintendent Nathan Parker stated, "Montclair High School and Renaissance are currently in a lockdown situation. This means yo cannot pick up your children, an if they are already out of the building they should not return to the premises."
He continued, "The police are on site as well as the Montclair Administration while they conduct their investigation."
More information will be provided as it becomes available, Parker concluded.
