BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The pedestrian struck at the intersection of Broad Street and James St. in Bloomfield was pronounced dead at the hospital.  

At about 8:45 a.m. Friday morning, a pedestrian was struck by a full size pick-up truck. The pedestrian was a 58 year old Bloomfield resident. The identity of the victim was not release pending notification of the family.

According to Bloomfield Public Safety Director Samuel DeMaio, the driver of the vehicle reported that he did not see the pedestrian because of sun glare. The driver is reported to have been making a left turn from Broad St. to James St.

The victim was taken to University Hospital in Newark where he was pronounced dead.

According to DeMaio, the incident is being investigated by the Bloomfield Police Department Traffic Division and the Essex County Prosecutors Office.
