BELMAR, NJ — Early Belmar beachgoers enjoyed this stunning sunrise this morning for the start of what is expected to be the best weather day of the weekend.
Sunny skies will dominate with a high near 79 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The ocean temperature is 74 degrees with a low risk of rip tides along the oceanfront, so expect those green waves to be flying high, as light south winds become southeasterly as the day progresses.
Low tide will be at 8:10 a.m. with the high tide at 2:32 p.m. Wave heights are expected to be between 1 and 2 feet.
Showers and thunderstorms are supposed to hold off until 2 p.m. tomorrow, July 21 and continue through at least Monday, with up to 1 inch of rain is predicted, the weather service reports.
If the beach is in your plans today, remember that Belmar's lifeguards are on duty from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and holidays.
