LIVINGSTON, NJ – The #13 seed Bloomfield Lady Bengals were overpowered in the first-round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 1, Group 4 Softball Tournament, suffering a 7-1 defeat at the hands of #4 seed Livingston on Thursday, May 16 at Livingston High School.
With Bloomfield trailing 4-0, the Lady Bengals picked up their lone run in the top of the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 4-1, only to have the Lady Lancers rally for three runs in the bottom of the frame to seal deal at 7-1.
Deja Robinson had three RBI’s to lead Livingston.  With Bloomfield eliminated, the Lady Lancers advanced to the quarterfinals on Monday, May 20, only to be bounced by Mount Olive 5-0.
Bloomfield didn’t have much luck against Livingston this year, as the day prior to the NJSIAA Tournament matchup, the Lady Bengals lost a regular season contest to the Lady Lancers 14-6 in extra innings on Wednesday, May 15 in Bloomfield.
With the score tied 6-6 after seven innings, Livingston scored 8 runs in the top of the eighth inning for the win.

Junior Mia Lopez had two hits and scored twice in a losing effort for Bloomfield.
The Lady Bengals ultimately ended their season at 11-10 overall and 8-4 in the Super Essex Conference Liberty Division.  Bloomfield finishes third in the division.
Livingston ended the 2019 campaign at 19-9 overall and 11-1 in the division, good for first place.
