BLOOMFIELD, NJ The Historical Society of Bloomfield (HSOB) hosted a vintage baseball game on Sept. 15 at Wright’s Field, which borders the historic Morris Canal Greenway in Bloomfield. Nineteenth century baseball club The Hoboken Nine took on The Bloomfield Buzzards, with the Hoboken Nine winning 20 to 6.

The game, organized by Bloomfield resident and HSOB Recording Secretary Anne Carlino, was a big “hit,” with more than 50 adults and children attending the free event. The HSOB gave away popcorn and sold T-shirts to the crowd on the perfect-weather day.

"The Historical Society of Bloomfield is a resource for the community, and we are always looking for opportunities to give back to the town we love and show that history can be fun, too,” explained HSOB President Jean Kuras.

Future HSOB events for autumn include an Attic Collectables Sale on Sept. 29, lecture on Bloomfield College’s 150th birthday on Oct. 23 and Morris Canal Hike on Nov 3. Check out for details.
