Ridder's Custom Woodwork celebrated its official grand opening recently at a ribbon cutting ceremony with Hamilton Township officials.

Ridder recalled watching his father, a master cabinetmaker work, and, at age 12, buying his first-hand tools using earnings he made as a paperboy. He started his career in civil engineering technology and building construction and worked on diverse jobs from designing bridges to assisting with the construction of buildings and high rises as a project engineer.

In 2010, Phil returned to his fist love when he established Ridder’s Custom Woodwork in Flemington. Ridder's new 6,000 square foot space in Studio Park replaces the former 900 square foot home workshop in his basement.

He said that he searched all over the state and chose Hamilton Township for its central location and then fell in love with the Modern Recycled Spaces at Studio Park.

“Studio Park and Modern Recycled Spaces wish the best for Ridder Custom Woodwork," said Max Popkin of Modern Recycled Spaces, which owns the 200,000 square foot old mill building.

"Phillip’s new beautiful studio space will create the next generation of handmade products and designs similar to Studios Park's 100 + year old history. We love to see products handmade in the US as well as new companies moving into Hamilton from the surrounding areas," said Popkin.
