“With two strikes, I’m just trying to put the ball in play. I’m not trying to do too much,” said Pacchioli. “With my speed, and Scott Kelly on the bases, I just wanted to put the ball in play and make something happen.”

Darren Ford extended Somerset’s lead with a solo home run, his first of the season, in the bottom of the fifth inning.

“I’m just trying to make solid contact. I got a good pitch to hit and I put a good swing on it,” said Ford. “I’m just trying to do my job as a the leadoff guy to get on base and leave the home runs to the big guys behind me.”

Olmo Rosario added a second home run (1) of the game for the Patriots in the bottom of the eighth inning for the 4-1 final.

Logan Darnell (2-1) picked up the win, allowing a run on eight hits in six innings pitched. Logan Williamson (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits in five innings pitched.  Ryan Kelly came on to earn his third save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning pitched and three strikeouts.

The 2017 Somerset Patriots season will continue on the road until Tuesday, May 16th when the team returns to TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 pm game against the Sugar Land Skeeters.  For tickets, visit
