SOMERSET, NJ - Alternatives, Inc., based in Raritan, was recognized with a 2018 Healthier Somerset Healthy Workplace Recognition Award for implementing worksite wellness programs that improve the health and wellbeing of its employees and clients. Alternatives earned a Gold Award, which distinguishes companies with programs in place for at least five years and in ten award categories.
Healthier Somerset is a coalition of public and private companies with the mission to improve the health and well-being of people who live and work in Somerset County. The coalition shares information and creates alliances among individuals and organizations to create a healthier Somerset.

Alternatives received the Gold Award for implementing programs in the following categories: Health Risk Assessment, Cholesterol Screenings, Blood Pressure Screenings, Blood Glucose Screenings, Flu Shot Clinics Smoke-Free Workplace, Health Education Seminars/Lunch and Learns, Health & Wellness Newsletters for Employees, Websites or Links to Resources, Employee Assistance Program, Weight Loss/Management Programs, Physical Activity Classes, AEDs and AED/CPR Training for Employees, Kitchen or Breakroom with Microwaves and Refrigerators , Community Health-Related Events (Heartwalk, Relay for Life, etc.), Green Initiatives and an On-Site Health Fair.
