BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Although they couldn't hold the full ceremony because of COVID-19 restrictions, the annual July 4 ceremony at the Middlebrook Encampment was held with the traditional reading of the Declaration of Independence.

During the ceremony, they retired the flag there before the reading. This year, however, they did not announce the annual citizenship awards given to students in grades five and six in Bridgewater and Bound Brook.

In attendance were Bridgewater Mayor Matthew Moench, Bound Brook Mayor Robert Fazen and Manville Mayor Rich Onderko, as well as Sen. Tom Kean, Jr., Somerset County Freeholder Brian Gallagher, Bridgewater Councilman Tim Ring, boy scout troop members and Rev. Phil Fiadino.
