BRIDGEWATER, NJ -- Justin Sinibaldi's double scored Greg Verano to break a tie in the bottom of the seventh and give Bridgewater-Raritan a 3-2 victory over Perth Amboy in the first round of the Section 2, Group 4 state tournament on Monday.

Sinibaldi's game-winning blow was the only hit the entire game for Bridgewater-Raritan (13-11), which scored runs in the first and fourth innings without the aid of a hit.

Anthony Scarlata pitched six innings for the Panthers, allowed five hits, walked two, struck out two and was charged with one earned run. Verano pitched a hitless inning and ended up with the win after he scored the winning run himself.

The Panthers will host Phillipsburg in the quarterfinal round on Thursday.
