BERNARDS, NJ - Bayou in the Barn Music, Food and Art Festival at Farmstead Arts will be held July 16 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This is a family-friendly music, food and art festival in the historic English Barn at 450 King George Road, Basking Ridge. The event features music by the VooDUDES and Half Normal, southern eats, an art show and sale and lawn games. There is a suggested donation of $5.
New Jersey's own Mardi Gras party band, the VooDUDES, will perform in the barn from 8 p.m. - 9 p.m. Celebrating their 25th anniversary season, the VooDUDES of Highland Park, incorporate elements of R&B, boogie-woogie, Zydeco, Latin, honky-tonk gospel, southern folk and island music into their own distinctive blend of what can only be described as Louisiana music with a New Jersey accent. The VooDUDES have performed from Montreal to New Orleans and been featured in numerous festivals, including The Red Bank Jazz and Blues Festival, Philadelphia's Jambalaya Jam, New York's Benson & Hedges Blues Festival and Ft. Lauderdale's Crazy Crawfish Fest.
Half Normal, the winner of the 2015 Bernards Township Battle of the Bands, will kick off the music in the barn at 7 p.m. with classic rock. Band members include Vocalist Reed Laverty of Pottersville, drummer Dylan Hayeck, guitarist Jeff Tallman and bassist John Pergolizzi of Roxbury.
Jane’s Kitchen, of Basking Ridge, will supply a variety of locally sourced, sustainable and organic southern food for sale starting at 6 p.m. There will also be lawn games and a silent auction of small works by local artists throughout the evening.
