BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Senior guard Aaron Gao scored 27 points to lead fifth-seeded Bridgewater-Raritan to an 87-70 boys basketball victory over North Plainfield in the first round of the Somerset County Tournament on Saturday.

John Sibiga scored 22 points for Bridgewater-Raritan (13-10), which opened a 48-32 lead with a 30-15 showing in the second quarter.

Sterling White finished with 15 points and Justin Bryant netted 10 for the Panthers, who move on to face fourth-seeded Watchung Hills in the quarterfinal round Tuesday night in Warren.

Senior guard Tony Godwin of North Plainfield (10-14) led all scorers with 39 points.
