Boys Basketball: Bridgewater-Raritan Pulls Away to Beat Ridge

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Bridgewater-Raritan boys basketball team got the best of an early-season showdown in the Skyland Conference with a 50-29 victory over Ridge Thursday night.

Justin Bryant scored 14 points for Bridgewater-Raritan (3-0), which took a nine-point halftime lead with a 21-9 burst in the second quarter. The Panthers led, 36-27, after three quarters before closing the game out with a 14-2 run. Aaron Gao finished with 13 points in the victory.

Jeremy McCavera scored 14 points and Chris Feringa finished with 10 points for Ridge (1-2), which capped a tough week in which the Red Devils also lost to one of the most highly regarded teams in the state, Gill-St. Bernard's, on Tuesday.

Raritan Police: Warren Man Arrested for DWI and More in Police Blotter

RARITAN, NJ - A Warren man was arrested Feb. 1 for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle violation, according to a report from Raritan Borough Police.

Wayne Krause, 68, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and speeding after being pulled over on Route 22 West.

Krause was processed and released pending a court appearance.

County Holding 5th Annual 5K Race to Wellness

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Somerset County Employee Wellness Committee is partnering with EmPoWER Somerset for the 5th Annual 5K Race to Wellness and 1-mile Fun Walk for county residents March 24.

The event, according to a release, is being held rain or shine at 9 a.m. at Duke Island Park, on Old York Road.

The 5K race is USATF certified.
