NEW JERSEY - Bridgewater-Raritan High School's Nicholas Sacco has been chosen as a member of the new Student Athlete Advisory Council for the 2018-2019 school year through the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).

The council, according to a release, is expected to give a voice to student athletes, and will be comprised of one student representative from each member school.

Student ambassadors were chosen from more than 100 student athletes who submitted applications during the spring, and they are rising sophomores and juniors who will serve two-year commitments.

At their first meeting in August, the release said, they listened to speakers and engaged in activities to foster communication, followed by having a chance to voice issues pertaining to student athletes.

Ambassadors are divided into North, Central and South sections.

Among the issues the ambassadors have already brought up include things related to time management, injury prevention, pressure to succeed, sports specialization, social media, nutrition, sportsmanship and fan behavior.
