BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Bridgewater-Raritan High School volleyball player is one of many being recognized by the NJSIAA as a graduating scholastic-athlete.

Jack Whelan was honored as part of this year's 25th Annual Scholar/Athlete Awards Program from the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA). The organization honored 364 high school student-athletes with a total of $201,000 in college scholarships.

Under the program, each NJSIAA member high school can choose one senior student as scholar/athlete of the year, and each student is awarded, at minimum, a $500 college scholarship.

"The luncheon has developed into a time-honored tradition that provides us an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the academic achievements of so many student-athletes," said Larry White, NJSIAA executive director, in a release. "We wish each of our scholarship recipients the best of luck as they embark on their future endeavors."
