BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Troop 88 Crew, of Bridgewater, went on the Patriot's Path Council's Watchu Weekend, a Philmont training trip for every crew in the Patriot's Path Council.
The troop is preparing to go to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico later in July. The troop meets Thursday nights at Eisenhower Intermediate School.
The purpose of the training weekend is to give as close an experience to Philmont as the council can provide without going to Philmont. Troop members carry everything they need on their backs, which includes tents, sleeping bags, clothing and food, and the weight varies from person to person, with the range from about 30-35 lbs. to near 50 lbs.
Philmont is 10 days hiking with everything on their backs. The scouts will be hiking 65 miles, and hiking up Mount Baldy, the highest mountain on the ranch
