BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater Cub Scout Pack 99 held a retirement of flags ceremony May 20 at the St. Josephs Cemetery in Bridgewater.

Once a year, the pack holds the ceremony, usually the weekend before Memorial Day.

With Cub Master Bill Schmidt and American Legion Charter Rep. Donald Caola, the pack collected all the weather-worn and tattered American flags on the graves of veterans and replaced them with brand new flags provided by the American Legion. After, the scouts met at the Legion, on Old York Road, for the Retirement of Flags Ceremony.

Anyone who would like to retire an old weather worn flag can drop it off at the American Legion any time during the year, although the ceremony is only held once a year.
